Service Overview
Network Operations
- Around-the-clock monitoring and management of Cornell's voice, video and data networks, and connections to the regional, national, and international networks
- Around-the-clock monitoring and management of Cornell's dial-in modem pool
- Provisioning of new interfaces to the Cornell campus data network
- Management of router configuration changes in support of changing customer needs
- Host registration
- Coordinating elimination of aging network technologies
- Single Point of Entry for all Computer and Network Security, Abuse and Copyright Infringement complaints
Server Operations
- Around-the-clock monitoring and management of CIT server farm, consisting of over 300 servers providing critical services to the University (e.g. electronic mail)
- Around-the-clock monitoring and management of Cornell's IBM mainframe, which hosts all campus administrative applications with the exception of payroll
- Around-the-clock monitoring and management of special interest program servers such as the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Theory Center
Network Monitoring
- Manage multiple resources for the dissemination of information to the campus community regarding availability of networks and critical services
- Serve as first point of contact for reporting of network problems by campus network administrators
- Troubleshoot simple network problems over the phone
- Coordinate repairs to CIT-supported local area networks, wide area networks, and systems
- Act as liaison with computer and network vendors during problem resolution
