Software
Please check with your local technical support provider before purchasing or installing any software.
The software you use in your job tasks will, of course, need to be installed on your telecommuting computer. Many of the most commonly used applications are available at a reduced cost through CU Software Licensing Services (www.cusoftware.cornell.edu).
You should also check with your local technical support provider to learn if your department or unit has additional local licensing arrangements.
You'll be able to use many campus services via uPortal.cornell. This includes the installers for Symantec AntiVirus and Firewall applications.
If you use different computers at work and at home, the web interface at www.cit.cornell.edu/calendar/ will allow you to use Oracle Calendar without installing any software.
CIT's EZ-Backup service works from off-campus as well as on. Another option for backing up your documents is to purchase a flash-drive (also known as a thumb-drive). These drives, about the size of a pack of gum, are a convenient way to store and transport files.
