Most contemporary machines can run this software. It may have problems with legacy devices on older machines. The home edition of Windows XP can only support a single processor, which is how most PCs are configured. Comments:

This product is Microsoft's first release of a combined code base for the consumer and business markets. For the home user, XP Home Edition is the follow-up product to Windows Me. You can also upgrade to Windows XP Home Edition from Windows 98.

The LUNA interface, the new graphical user interface to Windows XP, changes the look and feel of the Start button; additional features are included to protect the operating system from corruption by third-party installers and applications.
