Project Charter – this is a document that provides authority to establish the project, broadly defining its purpose, goals, and objectives. Resources required to complete Project Planning (High Level) are also identified and secured. The Project Charter serves as a contract between the Project Team and Project Sponsor. The Project Charter is the first of a series of project definition documents defining the business goals and objectives the project will meet. Information within the Project Charter is provided at a general level that will be further refined in documentation produced during subsequent project activities.
See Appendix: CPMM Project Charter Template |
Approved or Rejected Charter or a Request for Additional Information – the Charter is signed indicating one of the three possible outcomes of the Charter Selection process:
Charter approval and project selection,
Request for additional information, or
Charter rejection.
The Charter Decision Notice is used to document the Project Selection Committee’s decision, and to communicate it to the Project Sponsor.
