Updating "Who I Am" Settings
to Direct Special Mailbox Messages

 

These instructions lead you through the steps to have special mailbox messages delivered to the address or addresses you choose.

  • Go to Who I Am
    (by clicking the link here, by entering "whoiam.cornell.edu" in any browser, or by clicking the Who I Am icon in the Directory Services folder in Bear Access).

  • Near the bottom, in the Note about special mailboxes, click the "here" link (as shown in the screen shot above). When asked for your Network ID, enter the name of the special mailbox including "-mailbox" but NOT including "@cornell.edu" (for example brrc-mailbox ). Be sure to use the special mailbox's password, not your personal NetID password.

  • When you see the SpecialMailboxes@Cornell page (as shown above), in the tool bar near the top of the page, click on Electronic Mail. You may have to enter the special mailbox's password again.

  • What you do next depends on how you want the special mailbox mail delivered. See our Configuration Options page for more information

green bullet Option A (have all messages forwarded to your personal NetID-based address)

  • Click on the third radio button.
    In the box, type your NetID followed by @cornell.edu
    (for example, ewe2@cornell.edu)

  • Click on the Set it! button near the bottom of the page.

green bullet Option B, C, or D (retrieve messages directly from the special mailbox address)

  • Click on the first radio button.

  • Click on the Set it! button near the bottom of the page.

green bullet Hybrid (have all messages sent to more than one address)

  • Click on the third radio button.
    In the box, type the addresses where you'd like the messages delivered. Put each address on a separate line. For example,


    As shown in this example, you can choose to have the messages sent to the special mailbox AND to personal mail addresses. Special mailbox addresses need to be specified in their full format, but personal NetID addresses can use the short version. Use the formats shown in this example.

  • Click on the Set it! button near the bottom of the page.
