Special MailboxesSecurity and Privacy: Kerberos & TLSThe method you choose to configure your special mailbox has security and privacy implications. Please review the sections below.
Kerberos is a security system designed to protect access to personal, confidential information on computer networks. When you request access to Kerberos-protected private information, Kerberos verifies that you have entered the correct password for your Network ID (this process is called authentication), and then issues you an electronic ticket, which gives you admission to restricted services. TLS (also known as SSL v3.1) is another safe, secure way to protect your password when using Eudora. Since you can only have one Kerberos ticket (but can also have one or more TLS sessions active), many special mailbox users will find TLS useful.
If you chose option A (and are having special mailbox messages forwarded to your personal mailbox, all of the special mailbox messages you receive are protected by the same security as your personal messages (you may have chosen Kerberos or TLS).
If you chose option B (and are using personalities to check both personal and special mailbox messages), you can only have one active Kerberos ticket at a time, and we strongly recommend that you use Kerberos for personal messages. This means you will use TLS password authentication for the special mailbox messages.
If you chose option C you have two instances of Eudora running at the same time. You can only have one Kerberos ticket at a time, so you need to make sure that the instance of Eudora you use to check your special mailbox is set up to use TLS.
If you chose option D you have chosen to check for the different kinds of messages (those to you and those for the special mailbox) one at a time. Each time you switch from one mailbox to the other you will need to:
