Oracle Calendar Away From Your DeskYou can use Oracle Calendar on a smartphone such as a Windows Mobile device or iPhone, a Pocket PC or Palm handheld/PDA device. There are some differences between the way Oracle Calendar will look on your desktop or laptop computer and how it will look on a cell phone or handheld/PDA device, but it can still be useful to have your agenda available to you when you are away from your desk. (You cannot respond to invitations or invite others when using your handheld device, although you can schedule "meetings" for yourself.)
For Cell Phones and SmartphonesIf you are using a device with Windows Mobile 5 or 6, a SmartPhone 2003, iPhone, or a Palm OS device you have two options for setting up your device to sync with Oracle Calendar. Option 1) NotifyLink which syncs using either Fetch or Push technology to keep the e-mail and calendar on your device up-to-date. You should work with your department technical support provider (TSP) if you require assistance setting up and configuring your phone. If your department does not have a designated TSP, please contact CIT OnSite Solutions for assistance. You or your TSP can request an account by sending email to mobile-wireless-support@cornell.edu. Option 2) Synthesis SyncML can be used to sync the calendar on your phone or pda with Cornell's Oracle Calendar server. Directions for downloading and configuring this application are documented below. Synthesis offers a 30 evaluation period after which you will be required to purchase a license if you wish to continue using the syncml client on your device.
